I'm not one of those who can easily hide.

Have you ever wonder why do we study? I think we have this mentality that if we don't study hard enough and achieve good results, we are pretty much useless. Today, Mr Leung had a saying. How do we define success? Is securing 8 A1s means success and failing to pass O's a failure? It actually had me thinking, yes it is crucial to have a good result so that we can move on however is that all? I think life itself has more than just study study and study. Every individual is pretty much different but most of us got overshadowed by so called our priority, academic results. We like to do what we love, we have our passion but i guess no one really supported you for it, right? Living through our childhood being told that the things we love will bring you to nowhere and over time we actually forget what we really want.

All i want to say is, or maybe i am just trying to console myself.. If we fail to clear or achieve what we want, it is not the end, it will never be the end if we choose to go on. All of us have our talents and shortcomings, if we fail here today, it doesn't mean that we can't find success elsewhere! What's important is that we have the skills that we acquired over the years to bring us far! Study is important, but it is not ALL.

Life is not just about studying, but too bad we're born in this century, this society. Study does not conclude our lives, but it is a process that all of us have to go through. Even though some people might think that degrees and certificates are not everything we need in life, but think, what can we actually do without those things? Do we have any special talents like making smart phones (Steve Jobs) or making soft wares (Bill Gates)? Most of us don't, because we spent almost our teenage years studying, studying and studying because we're scared to failures and being left behind. People like Bill gates and Steve Jobs are successful because they have talents and they were born in a free country with lesser stereotypical mindsets, we're in different leagues. On top of that, yes, they're not high school drop outs, but they did continue to pursue their further studies because of their passions and talents. I mean, you must have some knowledge from the books in order to design something like that, right? Come to think of it, other than studying what do we actually know? Yes, failing Olevel doesn't make you a failure, but if you failed Olevel because you didn't try hard enough then you're a failure. Likewise, getting eight distinctions doesn't make you a successful person, but if you put in your heart and soul and you scored eight distinctions then you're successful. However, life still got a long long way to go and you're only 17, many things are still left undiscovered. I think it's too soon for you to say anything about failures and successes.

@Anonymous
Yes, you're absolutely right. Like i said, it could be just me trying to console myself while typing it out in words LOL. However, i agree that it is a failure if i did not try hard enough for it, but what i meant was "IF" we really DID and we couldn't clear it. Anyways, cheers! :)
